A series of images, music and sounds which transport through Mexico's history, without any narrative sequence. The film spins constantly round the question 'Where are the singers from?'

A contemporary interpretation of the art of Baroque, inspired by the Italian painters of the period. Commissioned by Milan's Festival Delle Lettere and based on a letter about beauty, by Italian actor Vittorio Gassman.

In an associative montage statues of saints in rigid and rapt poses are crosscut with those of real actors until the two can no longer be told apart. Gradually the real bodies break away from the constraints of their wooden models through increasingly improvised dance. A successful act of liberation from convention, which the material celebrates in an ecstasy of multiple exposures and psychedelic colors. – Maya McKechneay

Their soothsayer/cleaning woman Cassandra keeps warning them about terrible things in the future, which include a sudden visit from Masha and her twenty-something boy toy Spike.

The agony and beauty of the creative process are explored in this reflective work, first inspired by a piano solo by Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, which reminds us that the act of creation can feel like “cracking the code in another dimension.”
